A Case of Malignant Giant Cell Tumor- of the Lung

Abstract

|
|
A case of primary tumor presented in this paper revealed a histological variant. The histological picture is quite different from ordinary primary carcinoma of the lung. In this case, the cells are mostly composed of multinucleated giant cells, bearing pleomorphic appearance. Their histological appearance imitate closely sarcomatous nature, but special stain disclose no myofibrils, cross striation or reticulin formation. Histological diagnosis of giant cell carcinoma is difficult without clinical information or special technique of tissue culture. The origin of the atypical giant cell is obscure, but some author suggests epithelial origin. We proposed descriptive nomenclature of malignant giant cell tumor of the lung."
